Not at all - all workers are placed on your own private board so there's no competition for actions. The only WP element is where you decide when to get out of bed, which sets turn order and paint market prices.

Pretty easy game actually - learn to play well is another matter :)
The "East" expansion is required though, because the base game with 3 (experienced) players becomes gridlocked.
